There is no written history of the Tornow Culture, but the presence of unique archaeological artifacts serves to identify the culture. Tornow dwellings and the ceramic vessels found in those dwellings provide the means for identification. Tornow Type pottery has a unique bi-conical, angular design with an everted rim, and precise incised horizontal lines on the upper cone. The map shows the areas in Germany and parts of Poland where Tornow type pottery has been found.
